Parmigiani Fleurier Sparkles with New Gem-Set, Ultra-Thin Ladies Watches

Parmigiani Fleurier presents a new gem-set Tonda 1950 range, one that offers extraordinary brilliance. The round diamonds of the Tonda 1950 and the precious stones of the Tonda 1950 Rainbow illuminate Parmigiani Fleurier’s revamped ultra-thin women’s watch.

The new Tonda 1950 for women has a large bezel, reducing the area of the dial and providing a broader surface on which to set the precious stones. No fewer than 51 round diamonds adorn the edge of the watch, totaling 1.82 carats. Thanks to their size and purity, these diamonds create a spectacular play of light.

The Tonda 1950 Rainbow features 36 baguette-cut stones selected and arranged according to their precise shade to gradually recreate the entire spectrum of a rainbow. This version features 21 sapphires in shades of pink, blue, yellow and orange, three rubies, six tsavorites and six amethysts, with a total weight of 3.73 carats.

Dial Variations: The rose gold case on the new model is complemented by one of three dials. The Tonda 1950 set with diamonds features a dial in Abyss blue – one of the brand’s signature colors – a pinkish pearl color, or a white mother-of-pearl with a rich, reflective texture.

The Tonda 1950 Rainbow is exclusively available with a white mother-of-pearl dial. The logo, understated and slightly larger, stands out at 12 o’clock whilst remaining in keeping with the delicate dial design. The delta-shaped hands are skeletonized with a gilded outline which echoes the rose gold-plated indices.

Timeless Aesthetic: The Tonda 1950 boasts the quintessential Parmigiani Fleurier aesthetic. The iconic profile with four round lugs making it an ergonomic piece to wear; the quest for a harmony between the proportions of each element of the dial and case; the delta-shaped hands and cut crown – all signs of the elegance inherent to the brand’s DNA.

Remarkably, the Tonda 1950 gem-set and Rainbow remain ultra-thin models, despite their richly stone-set bezels. These slender proportions are made possible by the PF701 caliber, which measure just 2.6mm thick.

In-House Caliber: The movement that drives the Tonda 1950 gem-set and Rainbow owes its thickness of just 2.6mm to an off-centered micro-rotor directly integrated into the main plate. This component winds the movement, which has an autonomy of approximately 42 hours.

This caliber was originally developed to allow for the addition of multiple functions without altering the slender proportions of the Tonda 1950 family — for example, a calendar or moon phase indication which could subsequently enrich the collection. This serves as proof of the excellent design of this movement and its successive variations.
