Introducing Parmigiani’s Toric Chronometre

Introducing Parmigiani’s Toric Chronometre

March 2, 2017

The first watch Michel Parmigiani designed was the Toric, and each new version has features that render it a unique experience. This approach is the driving force behind this signature haute horlogerie collection, which has come to symbolize both innovation and culture.

Its case is inspired by the columns of Ancient Greece, with this aesthetic taken up by the gadroons and knurling. The masterpieces of the past are a fascinating source of inspiration for the manufacture because of their ability to become a part of history, a principle as central to watchmaking as is the quest for accuracy. The Toric Chronomètre combines these two aspirations in remarkable fashion.

Parmigiani’s automatic movement is a certified chronometer.

As evidenced by the certification number engraved on the PF331 proprietary caliber, assembled with components of the highest quality, each Toric Chronomètre is unique and meets the most stringent standards for accuracy and reliability.

To ensure perfect harmony of substance and form, Parmigiani Fleurier opted for a case structure that frames the wrist. The case, made from white gold or rose gold, has been redesigned. The curved contours inject a certain dynamism into the design. The end of the strap and its attachment have been redesigned to reflect this, and the lugs given a more functional, ergonomic makeover. The crown has also been made a more imposing feature. While it retains the signature codes of the collection, the aesthetic of the Toric Chronomètre is understated, its appearance streamlined. The cards have been elegantly reshuffled.

This elegance can be seen in the dial, available in black opaline or a delicate white grained version. This handcrafted finish consists of creating a unique textured background by brushing the surface of the dial with a mixture of salt and silver powder. It is brought to life by two long javelin hands, a date, a very subtle minute track around the circumference, and Arabic numerals with proportions that emphasize this elegance. This piece comes with a black alligator strap.

The Toric Chronomètre eloquently makes its mark on the very nature of time. It is an expression of the taste of the man or woman wearing it, full of the originality of a sophisticated piece, perfectly executed.
