Laurent Ferrier’s Journey from Motors to Movements

Laurent Ferrier’s Journey from Motors to Movements

March 3, 2017

In this interview with Laurent Ferrier, the celebrated watchmaker discusses his longstanding passion for racing as footage replays highlights from his third place finish in 1979 at Le Mans, the legendary endurance race.

After a successful career working at one of the world’s most prestigious watch manufactures, it was Ferrier’s Le Mans teammate, François Servanin, who helped convince him to trade retirement for a chance to make watches under his own name. His first watch, the Galet Classic, debuted in 2008 and only two years later, it won over the jury at the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genèva, which awarded it the Best Men’s Watch Prize in 2010.

The interview also offers a rare opportunity to see Ferrier at his Geneva atelier working alongside Christian, his son and fellow watchmaker, as they plot the brand’s future together.
