CONTRAPUNCTUS
In the 14th century, ideas within the Italian and French compositional technique and music theory were developed to integrate an additional voice into an existing melody or theme: the so-called polyphony.
Today, we can see a counterpoint in our own new development: Hektor, the stylish addition to the classic LANG & HEYNE line that – like all his predecessors – offers a symphony for the senses.
Attention to detail
The Hektor is characterized by several evenly coordinated details that repeatedly visualizes the design element of the “petticoat” shape. For the very first time, the movement with center seconds is visible through an opening on the dial and makes this offspring of LANG & HEYNE a thrilling addition. Hektor’s real beauty, however is revealed through the anti-reflective sapphire glass in the back.
This edition is limited to 99 pieces, 33 of which each have a green, gray, or blue dial.
MANUFACTURE MOVEMENT – LANG & HEYNE 33.2
The LANG & HEYNE movement 33.2 impresses with its open movement architecture – a feature that it distinctive for Hektor. The extra flat design is made possible by a self-developed eccentric balance and a flying barrel. Special parts on the balance cock allow fine adjustment and still enable the wearer to see deep into the architecture. All frame parts and driving train wheels are made of Arcap, a sophisticated non-magnetic material with a special sheen when polished. The flat and turned parts such as shafts, screws and levers are made of steel.
DESIGN IDIOM
The “petticoat” design language from Hektor conveys a strong presence, from the movement architecture and hour-wheel cock to the dial and hands. Both the cocks in the movement and the three hands take up this image again. The specially designed solid steel watch bracelet also picks up the unique design element and continues it consistently in the chamfered link shape. The stylized “H” on the hour appliqués and in the relief pattern on the inner dial of the Hektor can be read as an interesting design element.
The case and bracelet are perfectly matched to the caliber. They frame the movement like a tailor-made suit the groom. The soft-looking, cushion-shaped crown protection enables excellent wearing comfort and is pleasing to the eye.
