The new BAL DU TEMPS features a flying tourbillon and a minute repeater. The hours, quarters and minutes are differentiated by distinct chimes, emitted when the two hammers strike the two gongs. Its 43 mm case is available in 18K 5N red gold, platinum, or grade 5 titanium. The signature “tambour” profile, recessed caseband, chamfered lugs, and sandblasted crown engraved with the Maison’s interlaced “LL” logo, reflect the brand’s deep respect for detail.
The openworked dial offers a striking view of the mechanical choreography within. At 6 o’clock, the flying tourbillon completes one full rotation per minute. The minute repeater — activated by a slide at 9 o’clock — audibly indicates the time on demand, using two gongs struck by polished hammers visible through the case back. This acoustic complication is a nod to early 19th-century tact watches created by the Maison, notably one made for Prince Emil Maximilian Leopold August of Hesse. The hour is displayed by a single hand on a sunray-finished ring with Arabic numerals, each version adopting a different colour according to the case material: silver, blue, or anthracite grey.
Inside beats the hand-wound L610SQ calibre, developed exclusively in Geneva, with a 90-hour power reserve.
L.Leroy
