The DC12 MaveriK marks a new chapter for David Candaux. After 17 years of reflection, it introduces a radical invention: a free double balance, united by a flying satellite planetary differential. Crafted in titanium with a seven-level architecture, the in-house C30 calibre embodies a living heritage of the Vallée de Joux while opening new ground for precision on the wrist.
The double balance has fascinated watchmakers for generations, from rare school pieces in the 1930s to Philippe Dufour’s Duality. With the DC12 MaveriK, David Candaux evolves this history. Rather than replicate, he reimagines, creating an architecture in motion, where two balances interact freely through a differential placed at the very heart of the seconds’ train.
Every line of the DC12 MaveriK is deliberate. Its 39.5 mm titanium case is fully curved, top and bottom running in parallel, with a top-loading construction and fine, taut lugs. The chip-shaped dial in nickel silver reveals a white opal central disc, flame-blued steel hands, and applied titanium indexes, while at 12 o’clock the suspended planetary captures the eye. On the back, twin balances beat under elongated titanium bridges with snow-grained finishing, a language of sincerity in craft.
