The Mesure du Temps 1787 collection opens a new decade for Chronométrie Ferdinand Berthoud, Inspired by Berthoud’s 1787 text on measuring time and focused on stable energy and precise setting. Its openworked design reveals the movement’s complex kinematics directly on the dial side.
What’s new: Calibre FB-TV.FC displayed dial-side (fusee-and-chain, barrel, power-reserve cone). 15 mm flying tourbillon with central seconds. Stop-seconds + central-seconds zero-reset via crown pusher (3 o’clock).
Key technical highlights: Constant-force fusee-and-chain in a redesigned, front-readable suspended architecture. Optimised fusee + Maltese-cross stopwork: ~6.25 crown turns, 60-hour reserve, more consistent torque. Planetary differential enables winding on the run; slimmer chain and redesigned flying barrel reduce friction.
Display & case: 44 mm (15.46 mm) 18-carat white-gold case with domed, glare-proof sapphire front and back. Off-centred hours/minutes at 12, central seconds on an inner bezel ring (25.80 mm titanium filament hand), and power reserve at 7:30.
Production is limited by workshop capacity, estimated at 10–12 pieces per year.
