HOME OF FINE WATCHMAKING SINCE 1833
A home is a place with powerful roots filled with emotions, a place of intimate interactions, a place of sharing and boundless imagination, a place of attentiveness and caring for others. Housed under a single roof, we are a community of men and women who work together, leveraging a spirit of collective invention to cultivate and transmit a distinctive style characterised by its elegance and focus on technical prowess. Warm and welcoming, this is our Home, in a place that is a never-ending source of inspiration and renewal: the Vallée de Joux.
LA GRANDE MAISON
Located in the calm, serene setting in the Vallée de Joux, our Home offers a unique sense of belonging. It is here, inspired by the exceptional landscapes of the Jura Mountains, guided by an unquenchable inner fire, that La Grande Maison gets its soul. All crafts under one roof, in the Manufacture, watchmakers, engineers, designers, artisans work together to give birth to fine watchmaking creations. Driven by a compelling energy and a spirit of collective invention that daily inspires the commitment of each and every member of our family, we cultivate our understated sophistication and technical creativity. This same spirit has powered the creation of more than 1,200 calibres since 1833 and made Jaeger‑LeCoultre the Watchmaker of Watchmaker.
THE VALLÉE DE JOUX
With the exceptional determination of a pioneer, the first LeCoultre set foot in the Vallée de Joux in the 16th Century. Accompanied by a handful of Protestants who were passing through Geneva as they fled France, Pierre LeCoultre set up home on the banks of the Lac de Joux.
More than a beautiful tranquil force, this scenery has served as the powerful roots for our Maison, whose heart beats at the same rhythm as its surrounding forests in a testament to permanent renewal. This exceptional location inspires our artisans to put their hearts and minds into every sketch, every invention.
A SPIRIT OF COLLECTIVE INVENTION
Creative imagination – both individual and collective – is the force that drives our workshops in the Jura mountains, giving rise to countless watchmaking advances and inventions. Here, akin to a laboratory, a dedicated research team with complementary talents and expertise meet and exchange ideas, challenge each other and come together to invent and develop cutting-edge creations. Watchmakers, engineers and designers, all combine their efforts and expertise, united by a shared passion for watchmaking. Their Manufacture’s irrepressible genius and autonomous dynamic has led to the conception of no fewer than 1,262 calibres and the title of Watchmaker of Watchmakers.
Understated sophistication is set apart by a constant balance between technical performance and aesthetic harmony, each at the service of the other. From the Art Deco inspired Reverso to the unicity of the Duomètre, the iconic Manufacture signatures embody elaborate watchmaking and incredible detail expressed through delicate handcrafts. From calibre to case, these timepieces are designed, crafted and assembled in our Manufacture by more than 180 skills exercised under the single roof that represents our Home. This is the unmistakable hallmark of Jaeger‑LeCoultre style, within which unique expertise and age-old artistic crafts come together in an ongoing quest for sophistication and elegance.
