The Red Dot Design Award is a renowned international design competition, which singles out products and projects with outstanding design and presents their designers with an award every year.
The beginnings of the award go back to 1955 when the “Permanent exhibition of well-designed manufactured industrial goods” first took place in the Krupp company’s Villa Hügel in Essen (Germany). The Red Dot Award, in the form that we today know it, was initiated by design expert Professor Dr. Peter Zec. Under his guidance, the “Red Dot” label has become a brand in its own right that is recognized around the world.
At the Red Dot Award Product Design, innovative products are judged for their design quality by a discerning jury. Designers, design studios and manufacturers
from around the world submit their latest products and projects in the hope of winning the coveted award. The jury is made up of independent design
experts who take the time to examine all entries and test them for their design quality. The level of innovation and the product’s functionality are
just as important as their sustainable ecological compatibility.
The independent, international jury of the prestigious Red Dot Award has announced the HYT H0 timepiece as one of its 2018 winners. This unique union between fluid technology and the flow of time, with its patented fluidic module, impressed with its high design quality among submissions from 59 countries. The prize will be presented at a special gala in Essen on July 9, 2018. This date also marks the opening of a related exhibition in the city’s Red Dot Design Museum, the largest museum for contemporary design worldwide. The H0 black will feature in the Red Dot Design yearbook, and in the accompanying app. HYT is proud that the product it regards as the purest expression of its technical expertise and philosophy on time’s passage has achieved this best-in-class status.
